As a Veterinarian who has served for 25 years in the Turkish Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and has completed his 40th year in his professional life, I will try to write something about animal husbandry. I hope it will make positive contributions to the country’s livestock.

As the Turkish Nation, we know very well that our ancestors came to Anatolia from Central Asia on horseback after long hardships and earned their living from livestock. It is obvious that Horse, Woman and Gun have an important place in Turkish traditions. It is also a fact that for centuries, Turks have preferred animal products that have a positive effect on intelligence development and have used animal products effectively in clothing. We know that in Anatolia, a table cannot be set without products such as meat, milk, yoghurt, butter, honey and eggs.

While Turkey was one of the seven countries in the world that was self-sufficient in terms of food until the 19th century, it is now one of the countries that seriously imports animals and animal products in the globalizing world. Unfortunately, our country has not been able to achieve the desired success in R&D studies, technology and modern infrastructure formation, which are necessary for the development of animal husbandry in the globalizing world..
